Nestled on the edge of a leadwood and fig tree forest, overlooking the vast Khwai River floodplains and beyond into the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, sits Khwai River Lodge. Once here, you are close to Africa's heart beat and at the centre of a world that has not altered since life began, you can sense the big game heritage from the moment you arrive. Bush hats and desert boots, tall tales and long drinks, a past redolent of trophies and potent sundowners make Khwai one of the most popular game lodges in Botswana today. Khwai is world renowned for its large concentrations of big mammals, especially buffalo, hippo and elephant. It is not unusual to see many different types of wildlife from the comfort of your own private deck. As a year-round destination for wildlife, predators especially leopard and lion are also very active in the area, rated as one of the most prolific in Botswana for viewing wildlife. The exceptional location of Khwai makes it a regular host to elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dogs. Accommodation: In 15 twin bedded, air-conditioned, en suite luxury tents with thatched roofs set on decks overlooking the Khwai River. Each suite with individual gas heater , his & her vanit unit shaving mirrors, hair dryers, mini bar, private viewing deck with hammocks, overhead fan, lighting and mosquito repellent, electric heaters, intercom to reception. Lodge has a heated swimming pool and viewing deck overlooking the Khwai River and conference facilities for 24 people. Meals and refreshments are served in the under cover dining area. Activities: Activities at the camp include morning and afternoon game drivesin open Land Cruisers , as well as after-dark spotlight game drives. A cultural visit to a local village can also be arranged, as well asguided safari walks along the Khwai River. For the more adventurous, full-day private game excursions are also available to the nearby Okavango Delta where guests also have the opportunity to experience a boat cruise.
