Location
Zarafa Camp (formerly known as Zibalianja Camp),
overlooks the Zibadianja Lagoon - the source of the world famous Savute
Channel. Zarafa Camp evokes a sense of old-style safari with its four
large, luxuriously appointed double or twin 'marquis style' tents.
Hosting a maximum of eight guests, the emphasis at Zarafa Camp is
on offering a personalised and private experience to guests - perfect
for those who favour a more intimate experience or those who prefer
the entire camp for their own, exclusive use. Zarafa Camp boasts all
of the Chobe wildlife, with a varied bird and mammal community. Abundant
plains game can be found here including lechwe, kudu, buffalo, zebra
and giraffe. It is also a predator-rich reserve including cheetah,
wild dog, lion, and leopard. The massive herds of elephant are another
highlight while a wide variety of birds - some 300 or more - can be
seen.

Accommodation
This camp usually accommodates 6
guests but can accommodate 8 guests on request. Tent
details: each of the Spacious marquis-style tents with shaded verandas
on raised platforms have En-suite bathroom with basin, copper bath,
flush toilet and both an indoor and outdoor shower as well as a A
separate private lounge and A private plunge pool per tent. the Main area of the camp has marquis-style canvas tent, Lounge and dining
facilities are enjoyed under cover or on the full-length deck shaded
by giant broadleaf trees. The camp has a "Jungle Gym" for
exercise enthusiasts and a Curio shop.
Electricity
Zarafa creates all its power from the sun, it has pioneered a solar
farm of 150 solar panels that feed special batteries which create
220V electricity 24 hours a day throughout the camp. Even the ice
machines and cold rooms are run from solar power. However, should
an emergency arise, a conventional back-up generator ensures uninterrupted
power delivery. Each tent has 220v inverter system for lighting and
other limited electrical use (no hairdryers) 24hrs a day, Video camera
batteries can be charged in each tent 24hrs a day. An adaptor is provided
in each room that accommodates most international plug systems but
please bring a spare camera battery to ensure uninterrupted photographic
opportunities. Hot water is available 24 hours a day.
Activities
Morning
and afternoon game drives via two 4x4 open Toyota Land Cruisers with
removable canopies (8 seats of which 6 are window seats). Night drives
with spotlights, Short walks from camp and on game drives, Bird watching,
Massage therapies are available either in your tent or on the deck
outside your tent. “Siesta’ viewing platforms plus hides at waterholes
and at scenic locations within the reserve and Brunch or sundowner
cruises on the HMS Zibadianja pontoon on the Zibadianja lagoon
Children
Zarafa Camp only accepts children 8 yrs and
over. No childcare/baby-sitters are provided for. Children must be
under the care of their parents at all times.
Please Note: Children 8-12 yrs require the use of a Private Vehicle
and Ranger for all activities - this will be at an additional charge.
