Completely refurbished during 2002/3,
the camp offers accommodation for 28 in 14 tastefully and authentically
decorated suites. Each suite is furnished with two three-quarter beds,
a day bed, expansive en suite bathroom with shower, bath, his and
hers basins, and a second W.C. From the private lounge area one can
overlook the unfenced surrounding bush in air conditioned comfort.
Facilities within the camp
include a swimming pool, an air-conditioned lounge and dining room
and a lala-palm enclosed African boma. With in this boma dinners are
savored under the magnificent African night sky around a blazing fire.
A well appointed curio shop complements the facilities. This is a
fully hosted and catered-for lodge (no selfcatering).

Discovery/Education Room:
This room provides a insight into
this fascinating region of southern Africa. Detailing the flora and
fauna of the region as well as providing tactile examples in the form
of fossils, skeletons and more. There is extensive archaeological
information partaining to the area, particularly from the ancient
Mapungubwe finds. This room is aimed at adults and children alike.
Activities:
In
addition to the game and predator drives conducted in 4 wheel drive
safari vehicles, by experienced rangers and trackers, Mashatu Game
Reserve is also able to offer activities conducted by research scientists
in their field of study. The applicable fee assists in the funding
of the scientists’ research. Walking trails can also be done guided
by the trained rangers of The Mashatu Game Reserve. For the more adventurous
there are mountain bike safari where the bush is seen from a completely
different perspective. The experienced rangers will accompany you
as you pedal your way along ancient elephant paths. The exhilaration
of cycling amongst the “Giants of Mashatu" is an awesome experience.
Early morning and late afternoon rides are available.
Limpopo horse safaris are another exhilarating
way in which to view the wildlife. FOr those with an interest in archaeology,
an archaeologist will accompany the guest on an ivory and archaeology
drive into the ancient ruins of the area.
Children and Child Policy:
At Mashatu Main Camp, children of all ages are welcome
but those aged five and under are not permitted to dine in the boma
or to be taken on game drives, unless their parents have reserved
sole-use of their safari vehicle. Special dining arrangements can
be made and baby sitting services are provided on request at a nominal
charge. Family rooms and triple rooms are available upon request.
Children under 12 years of age, sharing with full paying adults, pay
50% of the quoted adult tariff.
