The Northern Tuli Game
Reserve (NTGR) is located in the easternmost corner of Botswana, close
to the Mapungubwe World Heritage Site in South Africa. Here is a unique,
timeless corner of Africa where nature and culture combine in spectacular
wildlife, breathtaking landscapes and fascinating history.
Set in spacious gardens along the banks of the Limpopo River against
a backdrop of stunning sandstone outcrops, Tuli Safari Lodge is also
unique. Here the welcome is genuinely warm and the ambience is charmingly
ageless.
The echo of ancient cultures resounds at the many
sites of archaeological and spiritual significance, whilst meaningful
visits with local communities showcase contemporary rural Botswana
life.
Each day brings a new adventure as Tuli offers a truly authentic wildlife
experience. NTGR is an unfenced
wilderness extending to 72000 hectares, at the heart of the proposed
Greater Mapungubwe Transfrontier
Conservation Area.
Here roams the largest elephant population on private land in Africa,
together with leopard, cheetah, wild dog and
lion, vast herds of plains game and over 350 bird species. Not forgetting
the resident bushbuck and mongoose
families that make the lodge their home, nor the elephant shrews that
frequent one of our favourite sundowner
spots!
At Tuli, you set the pace … with varied activities to enjoy and idyllic
grounds to relax in. Game drives and bush walks with exceptional guides,
hides tucked away in the bush (where you can also stay overnight for
the ultimate back-to-nature experience!) and horse rides in the wild
… with cosy suites, a sparkling pool, waterhole and star-deck awaiting
your return to the lodge.

Morning or afternoon riding safaris can
be arranged through Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris. Please note these
are for experienced riders only and need to be
pre-booked.
Community visit
A visit to local village Mothabaneng
includes a visit to the school, a wine-tasting experience with a difference
(at the lala-palm ‘distillery’), a chance to see
traditional basket-weaving in action and an opportunity to see some
of our community projects. The community visits are normally in the
afternoon and last approximately 2 hours. 50% of the community visit
charge is allocated to our community fund.
Confluence visit
A morning trip across the Eastern
section of the reserve to the confluence of the Shashe and Limpopo
rivers, a unique and scenic spot where Botswana, South
Africa and Zimbabwe meet. A picnic lunch is included, and you will
be back at the lodge early afternoon.
Day trip to Molema
A day visit exploring the Western
section of the reserve. En route we pass sites of great historical,
cultural and spiritual significance and the geologically fascinating
Solomon’s Wall. We also visit a wetland area (great for birding depending
on the time of year) and dam (where enormous herds of elephants are
known to drink). We arrive at Molema – our self-catering camp beautifully
located on the banks of the Limpopo, a joint venture project established
with the local community – in time for a leisurely picnic lunch and
rest. We then take a slow game drive back, including the usual stop
for sundowners, and returning to the lodge in time for dinner.
